Close race in Farum, when FCK won again

F.C. Copenhagen won their 5th league game in a row, when FC Nordsjælland was defeated 1-0 in Farum Park in a tight game, which could have gone either way. Jesper Grønkjær scored the winner after 51 minutes.

On a freezing cold Wednesday night in Farum, Copenhagen extended their lead at the top of the table to 13 points, when FC Midtjylland and OB Odense only drew their games against Horsens and Esbjerg. But the champions had to work hard for the victory against an injury-struck FCN-team, who played their cards wisely and had a couple of the 100 % chances in the first half.

Joy and disbelief, when Grønkjær got the only goal of the game

Copenhagen also had their opportunities in the first half, but FCN-keeper Kim Christensen – who was absolutely outstanding in the 1-1-draw between the two teams in March - produced a couple of fine saves. But six minutes after the break, a rare blunder by Christensen led to the goal which eventually decided the game. A long free kick from Lars Jacobsen was flicked on by Jesper Grønkjær, and Christensen mysteriously tried to kick it away, but totally missed the ball which crawled over the goal line.

5 minutes later Brede Hangeland headed a corner into the net, but the ref had seen a foul by one of his team-mates and disallowed the goal. FCN tried to fight back, but without playing to their best, Copenhagen was too strong. And after having conceded goals in the last 7 games, Jesper Christiansen and the defence were dedicated to keep a clean sheet – and succeeded.
