Neestrup: Vejle win a 'good start'
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says the team have a good "starting point" for the return leg of their Danish Cup quarter-final with Vejle, after securing a 2-0 win in Parken on Wednesday.
Goals from Mohamed Daramy and Viktor Claesson in the final half-hour earned the Lions victory and an advantage heading into the reverse tie.
"You typically see in these matches, where the opponent is very deep and compact, that it is difficult at the start," says Neestrup.
"But it gets easier as time goes by, and that was probably what we saw today.
"To me, Vejle are a Superliga team that just happen to be in the First Division now, and they did everything they could to make it difficult for us. So they must be given credit for how to match panned out today.
"But even though we played a slightly mixed first half, we still got two or three chances, and if we had taken an early lead, it might have gone differently.
"But we continued to press after the break and pushed them almost completely back. All this without us giving so much as a single chance away, because at no point did they come close to scoring.
"2-0 is a good starting point before the return leg, and I think it's a shame that there is a month and a half between the games. But it's not because it changes our approach so much, I just think it's a long time."
Next up for FCK is a home clash with OB on Sunday at 6:30pm. Fans can buy tickets for the game today, and new supporters and visitors can also secure their seat in Parken Stadium.
