Kasper Klarskov Nielsen on becoming F.C. Copenhagen Women's first head coach
F.C. Copenhagen Women have appointed the team's first head coach, with Kasper Klarskov Nielsen agreeing to join the side ahead of its debut season.
Head of women's football, Rebecca Steele, is happy that the agreement is in place and that further work around the team can continue.
"We are happy that we have Kasper as head coach," says Rebecca. "He brings solid experience in working with girls' and women's football, and he will be able to help move the team to the next level.
"We want to play with the best, and we look forward to working together to create this team."
An exciting challenge awaits
Nielsen is an A-licensed coach and arrives at FCK with experience from FC Nordsjælland Women, where he helped secure promotion in 2019. He has also worked with BSF Women, the DBU talent centre, and most recently has been involved in FC Nordsjælland's U16 girls' championship and cup triumph.
"It's a really exciting challenge I've been given, and I'm really looking forward to helping to push forward girls' and women's football in Copenhagen," says Nielsen.
"There is a lot of work ahead of us, but also an exciting journey where we can help create the foundation stones for what will hopefully inspire even more girls to play football in the future."
Training starts in July
Work around the team and the players is already in full swing, and some of the players are in place in the squad. Nielsen already has eyes on training.
"I am looking forward to getting started on the training pitch and starting work in the summer, when promotion is the clear first goal for us on the sporting front. It will be good to meet the team and start preparations for the first season," he adds.
The women's team has their first practice game on 22 July.
