Coordinated jumping in B Stand prohibited for coming season
Coordinated jumping in the B Stand of Parken Stadium will continue to be prohibited when the new season kicks off this summer. However, F.C. Copenhagen may soon seek authority approval to strengthen and adapt the construction, initially in the Lower B.
The extensive process of testing the B Stand is coming to an end as the project now enters the next phase.
Structural experts have finished their complex calculations based on vibration tests, which determine the load inflicted on the stands from coordinated jumping. The conclusion is as expected: there is a need to strengthen and adapt the construction of the stands.
There are no defects in relation to concrete or maintenance. The stand is simply not built for coordinated jumping. Therefore, Rambøll is just now putting the finishing touches on the final recommendations and drawings that will form the basis for a future building permit.
Jacob Lauesen: We are approaching the final phase
"This has been something of an exercise in patience for everyone, and it has been extremely complicated to secure the right data base in order to arrive at the right solution. Therefore, we have naturally brought a lot of expertise into the process, and we are delighted that we are approaching the final phase," says Jacob Lauesen.
"I would like to issue a big thank you to all the fans in the B Stand who have shown understanding and patience in a difficult situation. Unfortunately, we will all have to be patient for a little while longer, and coordinated jumping is still prohibited, but we may soon see an end to that.”
Building permit and offers from contractors
At the moment, Rambøll is working at high pressure to complete the final drawings, which before
long will be sent to the Municipality of Copenhagen.
In the Technical and Environmental Administration, F.C. Copenhagen will then apply for a permit for construction and at the same time obtain offers from contractors.
"After an intensive and complex process, we are now approaching the phase where we can move on
drawings for approval and finally the construction work itself," says Jan Vig, Head of Monitoring and Analyzes of Existing Structures at Rambøll.
"Although we have tried this process previously at other Superliga stadiums, it is a completely independent task that has required a great deal of work to provide the right data basis."
Work to start during the winter break
A major construction project awaits. It will involve large quantities of steel and other building elements to safely reinforce both the upper and lower tiers of the B Stand. Work will begin on the Lower B over the winter break.
Additional information about the upcoming construction work will be shared on an ongoing basis.
