Giorgi: Great to play in Parken

Giorgi Gocholeishvili made his F.C. Copenhagen debut on Wednesday when coming off the bench just 10 minutes in against Banik Ostrava.

Discussing the game afterwards, Gocholeishvili said: "I am happy to make my debut, and it was important that we won.

"My teammates were really supportive and attentive in helping me, and I owe them a big thank you for that.

"I am not completely satisfied with my own performance, and there are several things that can be improved. But now I'm in the game, and we need to continue this winning streak first and foremost.

"It was fantastic to play in Parken. I had heard a lot about the support, and it was great, so a big thank you to everyone who cheered. I especially noticed the many positive shouts from the stand I played in front of in the second half (the Lower C). It was really awesome."

The names of the stands are among the many things the Georgian is still getting used to after a week and a half in Copenhagen, and of course, there are also things on the pitch that need work, but head coach Jacob Neestrup was satisfied with what he saw on Wednesday.

"We are happy that Giorgi, in his first game in Parken, which is not an easy one, played well. There are things that need refining and we will help him with that. But I think it looked promising,"

Third Georgian FCK Player
Gocholeishvili became FCK player number 323 since the club formed in 1992, and he is the third Georgian to wear an FCK jersey, following Mikael Ashvetia and David Khocholava.

Like Khocholava, Gocholeishvili came from Shakhtar Donetsk, while Ashvetia joined the club from from Torpedo Kutaisi.

Both Ashvetia and Khocholava made their debuts against AaB, but 20 years apart – on 23 September 2001 in Aalborg, and on 18 July 18 2021 in Parken – respectively. The AaB matches ended 1-1 and 2-2, so Gocholeishvili is the first Georgian to record a debut victory.
