Lions rally to draw at Silkeborg

Two second-half goals earned F.C. Copenhagen a comeback draw at Silkeborg IF on Sunday as the Lions head into the international break second in the Danish Superliga and just three points off top spot.

Viktor Claesson and Gabriel Pereira found the net to secure a hard-fought point for FCK after Younes Bakiz and Jeppe Andersen had given the hosts an early lead.

"It makes a big difference to leave here with one point instead of none, but we came for three points and I won't hide the fact we lacked power in the first half," said FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup afterwards.

"Their first goal is what can happen to a goalkeeper, just as a striker can fluff a chance, but we cannot give them that second goal. That's what made us chase one point instead of three for the rest of the game.

"But having said that, I'm satisfied that we again kept our opponent down to very few chances, even though they scored two of the five opportunities they had throughout the game.

"We staged a good comeback after the break and never gave up. We didn't change much tactically during the break, and it wasn't the formation that was the problem. It was the fact that we were sat too far away from them, so we had to get tighter and we had to be much more aggressive in our pressing and play more direct in our attacking play. We struggled to create chances before the break but we also managed to do that in the second half.

"Not everything is perfect but when we lost in Herning right after the last international break we were six points off first place. Now we're three points off, so I'm glad we at least fought back and got the draw today, which could prove valuable in the long run."

The domestic calendar now breaks for international matches to take place. FCK are back in action on 18 October at home to Vejle.
