Next stop: Austria
On Saturday morning the FC Copenhagen squad and staff head off to Austria, where a week-long training camp awaits. Besides the vigorous training regime the players will be subjected to, two friendly matches against Sturm Graz of Austria and FC Volga Novorod from Russia are scheduled.
The entire first team squad - bar Søren Frederiksen, who faces a stint on the sidelines through injury - is in Austria. However, Bryan Oviedo, Christian Bolaños, Mathias Zanka and Thomas Delaney will arrive on Monday.
Additionally, U-19 players Jakob Busk, Christoffer Remmer, Lasse Lindbjerg and Andreas Cornelius are also on the plane to Austria, while Youssef Toutouh - who was given a try-out against Helsingborgs IF on Thursday - also gets an additional week to show off his talents.
Assistant coach Johan Lange had this to say, regarding the upcoming week:
- We are looking forward to having a week away, when we're together 24 hours a day. It's a good way to integrate the new players, where they move one step closer to learning our style of play and the culture of the club. In the relatively short summer break, we are also able to intensively train, and focus on tactics and physical attributes. It's an advantage that we know the place down here really well: the hotel and not least the pitches are perfect.
- We have also scheduled two friendly matches. On Monday, we meet the Austrian champions Sturm Graz, which will be a good test for us. They are a good team that, after a highly dramatic conclusion to the Austrian league, pushed Red Bull Salzburg into second place. We will also play on Thursday, against FC Volga Novorod, currently twelfth in the Russian top division. They have a short summer break in their league; they must keep in shape so therefore they are a good opponent for us.
