Cornelius ends goal wait in Lions victory
Andreas Cornelius scored his first goal since March as FC Copenhagen came from behind to beat Aalborg.
The Denmark international, who broke his ankle back in April, headed home from a corner to cancel out Thomas Enevoldsen’s early opener.
AaB went back in front - through Lukas Spalvis - only for Kasper Kusk to level with a composed finish.
And man of the match Nicolai Jørgensen spearheaded the second-half comeback with a neat headed effort, before a Kasper Pedersen own goal added gloss on Copenhagen’s triumph.
Aalborg take the lead
The Lions went into the international break on a run of five games without a victory.
And it was almost a dream start for Copenhagen, when Jørgensen peeled off at the far post to meet a Ludwig Augustinsson corner just two minutes in, only for his downward header to bounce up and over the crossbar.
And the striker, starting at left wing for the day, was made to rue his miss as AaB took the lead 10 minutes in. Andersen was at fault when he fluffed a cross from the right - the ball spilling out to midfielder Enevoldsen to drill home.
It was the first time FCK had gone behind at home this season but they hit back within eight minutes thanks to Cornelius. Augustinsson whipped in a corner - this time from the left - and the striker beat both his man and captain Thomas Delaney to steer his header into the far post.
Not content with drawing level, the Lions went in search of a second and Jørgensen nearly got it when he volleyed wide from the edge of the area, before Cornelius spurned a counter attack on the half hour.
But AaB soaked up the pressure and regained the lead through Spalvis, when the striker took his time to ride a Mathias Zanka challenge, round the goalkeeper and slot in from an angle seven minutes before the break.
Jørgensen orchestrates fightback
Copenhagen sought a response but their afternoon would have got worse had Enevoldsen not spurned another counter attack - the winger blazing his finish high and wide after waltzing past Andersen on the left edge of the box.
Moments before the chance Federico Santander was forced off with a gashed head. He was replaced by Benjamin Verbic, while Peter Andersen came off for Christoffer Remmer at the break.
Changes or not, it took little time for FCK to set the second-half rhythm and they were soon level again, this time through Kusk.
It was Jørgensen who instigated the goal - robbing AaB of the ball in midfield before avoiding two challenges and laying off to Kusk, who side-footed home with ease for 2-2.
And before long the Lions had turned it around, this time with Jørgensen finishing off a flowing move. Augustinsson, always seeking to edge forward, controlled an awkward cross-field ball from William Kvist and passed to Verbic on the byline. There, the substitute chipped back, over the defensive heads, to Jørgensen who freely powered his header past the goalkeeper.
Own goal wraps up three points
With Telia Parken still celebrating FCK went in search of another goal but Cornelius saw a golden opportunity deflected wide for a corner - yet it wasn’t long before it was 4-2, when Pedersen misdirected a Delaney cross into his own net.
Youssef Toutouh entered the action for Jørgensen with four minutes remaining as FCK went five in midfield to see out the clash.
Next up for Ståle Solbakken’s men is an Alka Superliga clash with Randers on Wednesday, kick off 18:30 in Telia Parken.
