FCK extend Orri Oskarsson contract
F.C. Copenhagen have extended the contract of Icelandic youngster Orri Oskarsson until the summer of 2024.
Oskarsson scored 29 goals in 17 matches in the U17 league this season, and 10 goals in 12 games in the U19 league. In total he boasts 39 goals for the campaign.
"We are really happy and proud that we can agree a new contract with Orri at the moment," says Sune Smith-Nielsen, development director with responsibility for FCK's talent department.
"He is a huge talent that we brought here less than a year ago, and it is a good sign that we can extend his deal already. It also proves how happy he is to be at the club.
"Orri is a complete striker with fantastic finishing skills, and everyone can see the incredible number of goals he has scored both with the U17 team and the U19 team, despite his young age. Of course, there is a lot he still has to learn, but he has all the prerequisites to reach really far."
Oskarsson himself is also very happy to sign a new contract in Copenhagen.
"I am really happy to be able to continue at the club. It will be fun and exciting to be able to develop myself even more here," he says.
"It is a dream for me to be at a club as big as FCK, and it is not difficult to develop here with all the good players and coaches we have."
The Icelandic striker could on Saturday win the U17 title along with his teammates and be named the record top scorer in the U17 league with 29 goals. He has already surpassed Jonas Wind's record of 28 goals from 2016 when he scored a hat-trick against Brøndby in the Lions' last outing.
"I love scoring goals, but it's about the team and about winning," he adds.
"It is in FCK's culture to win, and the goals follow when you win. Hopefully there will be many more goals and more gold medals in the future. There are still many things in the game that I need to get better at, and FCK can help me with that."
Oskarssson is now part of the U19 team, and he is ready to take the next steps in his career in Copenhagen.
"Now it's about him and all of us around him having to keep working hard and being patient," adds Sune. "We do not know when his first-team debut will come, but it is certain that Orri will be part of the first-team squad within the coming years, because he is such a good striker.
"Orri is one of the first top Nordic talents that we brought to Copenhagen as part of our Scandinavian investment, and we will hopefully see more of them in the future."
