Lerager: Vejle at home will be a tough clash
F.C. Copenhagen take on Vejle Boldklub in the first leg of the Danish Cup quarter-final on Wednesday – and Lions midfielder Lukas Lerager is looking forward to a tough encounter.
Vejle are currently top of the Danish First Division – Denmark's second tier – and knocked out Horsens in the previous round of the cup.
"We have to go out and dictate the game and keep the pace high as we always do in Parken," says Lerager.
"We have great respect for Vejle, who are a team at Superliga level and will do everything they can to make the match difficult for us. Having said that, it's the win that counts for us, so we can take an advantage into the return match in Vejle."
For Lerager and the rest of the team, targeting the cup is one of the big goals of the season, not least because this year's final is being played in Parken.
"There are two trophies to win in Denmark, and our goal is to win them both," says Lerager.
"It's special to win titles, and FCK must always be involved in the completion for them. At the same time, it would be really great to experience playing a cup final in Parken, so it's clearly one of our big goals this spring."
Everyone pushing to play games
The midfielder also admits to the challenge of playing third games within a week.
"We love to play matches, and we have a strong and broad squad, so it's not a problem at all - quite the opposite," he says.
"We are in a good place and have got some rhythm, and there are many quality players in the squad, who are all pushing to play matches.
"So we're all looking forward to it, and it's great that we have a game in Parken again as soon as Wednesday."
