Neestrup eyes 'good start to busy week' against AaB

F.C. Copenhagen host Aalborg in the Danish Superliga onMonday evening and head coach Jacob Neestrup is eyeing three points at the start of a busy week to come.

The Lions can move third in the table with a win in Parken, with a Danish Cup match at HB Køge awaiting on Tursday before a trip to Vejle on Sunday.

Three games in a week is nothing new for Neestrup and his side but the manager is keen to get going.

"AaB are an opponent that come with a lot of energy and power, and they play how they want to play – pressing hard, being intensive and very direct," says Neestrup.

"They're an exciting opponent who have looked really good in some matches, and had a hard time in others. But we have to focus on ourselves and perform properly, and have a good start to a busy week ahead."

FCK head into the clash having lost 2-1 at FC Midtjylland last time out. It's been nine days since that encounter and Neestrup believes his team is well placed to pick up the pace again.

"We have of course looked through our Midtjylland performance, the good and bad things, and used the time to train well with great intensity," says the boss.

"And we have had the opportunity to delve deeper into some aspects we think we needed to prioritise. I hope that we will be able to see the result on Monday, where we have to get three points."

Three games in seven days is only the beginning of an intense fixture period for the Lions. After Vejle, FCK host Jagiellonia Bialystok in the Europa Conference League on 3 October before travelling to Silkeborg three days later. Only then will the squad be able to ease off thanks to the next international break – although plenty of players will be on national team duty then too!

"We love playing a lot of games - I love playing every three or four days," adds Neestrup. "And I think it's different now. To be honest, it's extremely hard on us to play those qualifiers to get into a European group stage. Because it's just so important for everyone. It's something else once you get in there. So we're looking forward to playing Monday, Thursday, Sunday, Thursday and Sunday over the next 13 days."

The match against AaB kicks off at 7pm and tickets are still available.
