Neestrup reacts to defeat at FCM
Jacob Neestrup rued his team's lack of composure in front of goal as F.C. Copenhagen lost 2-1 at FC Midtjylland on Saturday.
The Lions took a a first-half lead through Kevin Diks' penalty but were overturned after the break with goals from Oliver Sørensen and Ousmane Diao.
"We should have scored one more goal in the first half, when we had several dangerous chances that we should have finished off," said Neestrup.
"We expected an even game here and it was, but it just fell the other way. We were at our best before the break and they were at their best after it.
"But instead of talking about us losing some momentum after the break, I'd rather focus on the fact that we have to do better in our good periods. We should have scored one more goal there. But we lacked the quality in the decisive moments that I think we had in many other phases of the game.
"After the break, we were too poor at holding the ball and they came at us too often and got too many set pieces. And of course it was frustrating that Onugkha's goal to make it 2-0 was chalked off. The offside is completely correct, but we didn't see that in the moment, so you just have to adjust from the fact that both they and we initially thought we were ahead by two.
"We just have to recognise that we're still not where we want to be in terms of having better control over games, and that's something we have to work on changing."
Next up for FCK is a Monday-night home clash against AaB on 23 September in Parken. Tickets for the game are on sale.
