New FCK attendance record vs Odense
F.C. Copenhagen fans have set yet another attendance record after 26,255 spectators watched Sunday's Superliga clash with OB in Parken.
Danish football is back following the two-month winter break and usually there is a steady uptake of tickets for the opening games in February.
That's because of a number of things, including the weather conditions in Denmark at this time of year.
But FCK fans came out in force on Sunday to help the Lions to a 2-0 victory and move top of the Danish Superliga table.
The attendance was the highest ever for a match against Odense BK – and broke the previous record set in 2007 by 435.
"We are overwhelmed by how massive the support was for a match in February, in the pouring rain and at a time of the season that is usually not as well attended," says FCK director Jacob Lauesen.
"We owe everyone who showed up, including the 1,000 OB fans, a thank you for creating such a great atmosphere for the match."
The attendance was also the fifth-highest ever recorded in the history of the Superliga for the 'spring premiere' – surpassed only by four derby matches against Brøndby in 1996, 2003, 2011 and 2017.
"It shows that we are in a swift development in this area and that there are lots of Copenhageners who want to be part of the experience in Parken," adds Jacob.
"Our goal is for us to have more than 20,000 on average for our home matches in the Superliga and right now we are at 21,634, which includes two matches where there were still Covid-19 restrictions at the start of the season.
"It makes us happy and motivates us to continue with our fans in this positive trend for the rest of the season."
FCK's next home game in Parken is against Randers FC on Friday 4 March. And F.C. Copenhagen tickets are currently on sale, even for fans who have never visited a game before.
"The lower tier of Sektion 12 is already sold out and the interest in this match is growing already. Both the Sektion 12 upper and Lower C stands look popular, so it's likely that we'll be hosting plenty of Copenhageners on that Friday night in March,” says Jacob.
