PS&E end cooperation with head coach Jess Thorup
PARKEN Sport & Entertainment can confirm F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jess Thorup has left the club with immediate effect.
"Unfortunately, we have not seen the development and stability in the team's performances this season that FCK should and must accept, and therefore we are ending our agreement with Jess Thorup today," says board chairman Allan L. Agerholm.
"At the same time, we must offer a big thank you to Jess for his exemplary work, not least in connection with the major transformation that FCK has gone through over the past few years. With Jess the club has succeeded in winning a Danish championship and securing the first qualification for the UEFA Champions League group stage since 2016. We wish Jess all the best in his future career.”
Current assistant coach Jacob Neestrup will be appointed to take over the job of head coach.
"In Jacob Neestrup, we have a very competent coach who knows the club thoroughly. We see in Jacob an extremely qualified, top-level coach who can get us out of the difficult period on the pitch that the club has been through this season," concludes Allan L. Agerholm.
Neestrup, 34, began training as a coach at FCK and was previously head coach of Viborg FF. Since 2020 has been an assistant coach at FCK.
