Sektion 12 closed for next European home game
F.C. Copenhagen have received UEFA's verdict in relation to the Champions League match against Dortmund where, among other things, there was an extensive use of pyrotechnics in Parken.
The verdict gives F.C. Copenhagen a significant penalty, which includes a stipulation for Sektion 12 (the B stand) to be closed to spectators for the next European home match.
"We take note of the punishment," says FCK director Jacob Lauesen.
"It upsets us very much that the behaviour of the spectators at the match has such large financial and significant sporting consequences for the club.
"Despite the fact that we made a great effort to avoid problems in the stands, we must also recognise that there was a dangerous, large and completely unacceptable use of pyrotechnics, for which the club is now being punished.
"We will intensify our efforts to reduce the use of pyrotechnics, and we must once again strongly encourage our fans to comply with the rules. Breaking them has very serious consequences for both the club and our fans."
The total fine from UEFA for use of pyrotechnics and other offences amounts to €79,000.
"Of course, we would rather have used that money on other initiatives, and there is also now a larger issue waiting in relation to solving the logistics of ticket sales for the next European home match. It's a long way off in the future, so we don't have clarification on what this means just yet," concludes Jacob Lauesen.
