Sørensen: First Cup final will be 'a great day'
F.C. Copenhagen's Christian Sørensen is preparing for his first Danish Cup final on Thursday when the Lions take on AaB in Parken Stadium.
And the 30-year-old says he cannot wait to sample the atmosphere inside Denmark's national stadium.
"It's probably the biggest single game I may play in my career," says Sørensen. "So personally it's huge, but it's also for everyone else at the club, because it's been many years since we reached the final.
"It's a cup that we look to win every year - just like the other trophy we play for on a daily basis.
"It's going to be a great day, and I'm already excited to head to the game and feel how the whole city will be buzzing for the football. I've actually never been here to see a cup final either, so it's going to be crazy to be part of one. It's a boy's dream to be allowed to and I'm really looking forward to it."
Should the game be level on 90 minutes then extra time and possibly even panty kicks will split the teams. Sørensen says the Lions are ready for that, despite having just come through the gruelling derby victory over Brøndby on Sunday.
"After our performance against Brøndby, I feel that we are in a really good place," he adds. "And we must take that boost with us to the final - even if there will probably be nerves. There has to be some for a match like this.
"It will be special because it must all be decided on the day. We have gained some experience in that type of situation on the way to the final."
The Danish Cup final between F.C. Copenhagen and AaB kicks off on Thursday at 5pm. There are a very limited number of tickets still available for the game.
