Team effort saves man's life in Parken
A 24-year-old man suffered a cardiac arrest in Sektion 12 during F.C. Copenhagen's UEFA Champions League playoff game with Trabzonspor on Tuesday.
The supporter thankfully survived and is doing well given the circumstances, thanks to a great team effort between fans, doctors, FCK's staff, Red Cross samaritans, paramedics and Rigshospitalet (Copenhagen's central hospital).
A little over 15 minutes into the game fans in Sektion 12 began to shout and gesticulate for help, and some even jumped over the pitch fence to attract the attention of medical staff.
Fellow fans carried the fan down beneath the terrace, while others together with our SLO team ensured that help was called from FCK's medical staff.
Chief doctor Morten Boesen and therapist Johannes Mackeprang led the resuscitation in collaboration with other doctors, who luckily were in Sektion 12 for the match. Together they quickly attended to the 24-year-old and gave him life-saving CPR, and used a defibrillator to get his heart going again.
The man was then taken by ambulance to Rigshospitalet, where he is now awake after a few days in a coma and on a ventilator.
He is doing well and his family would like to send a big thank you to everyone who helped save his life.
We are relieved and happy that the young FCK fan was saved via a great team effort. It was a shocking experience for many, and if you need help processing it, we recommend that you contact your own doctor.
F.C. Copenhagen would like to thank everyone who contributed to the quick response and help in saving the young FCK fan's life.
