Thorup: We were dominant against SønderjyskE
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jess Thorup was delighted the with dominance showed by his players during the 2-0 win over SønderjyskE on Sunday.
Second-half goals from Pep Biel and Jonas Wind earned FCK three points in Parken and edged the Lions up to second in the table, just a point off FC Midtjylland.
The win came just two days after FCK flew home from their UEFA Europa Conference League playoff clash with Sivasspor in Turkey.
"I think we were dominant today, and it was especially nice to see how the players handled it after the long journey, where we only came home on Friday afternoon," said Thorup.
"And it's great that we've woken Copenhagen up. To see almost 18,000 spectators on a Sunday afternoon against SønderjyskE… they were well entertained again and got the victory we all wanted.
"Of course, as head coach you always want to see more goals and we could have been further ahead at the end of the match, but I still want to give praise to the boys for their achievement.
"We ended up with a well-deserved victory, which is our fourth in a row in the Superliga after the slightly uneven start to the season."
Daramy at a high level
Mohamed Daramy was naturally a topic of conversation in Parken on Sunday, having provided an assist for Wind's finish. FCK have confirmed that negotiations with AFC Ajax over a possible transfer have been agreed.
And Thorup was pleased with the youngster's display.
"I could also mention several others, also young players, who are doing really well, but perhaps in less conspicuous positions," Thorup said.
"That said, Mo has really delivered at a high level, and he's been working on maintaining that for much longer periods of time. At the same time he's also contributing in the defensive work. He's not sold yet but I can of course understand that there are bids for him.
We have a Plan B
"It's the risk when we perform as well as we do over a long period of time, so it will surprise me if there are not more players who are in the spotlight at other clubs.
"But of course we have a Plan B, so we can bring in new players, because even though we have a lot of talent in the squad and start with four boys from our own ranks today, and there are even more on the way from the FCK Talent Department, but young players like Bøving and Højlund also need experienced people to learn from.
"This is especially important when we hopefully have to play two games a week in the autumn, but let's just see how it goes on Thursday first. We have a good starting point, but Sivasspor are an experienced team, so we can definitely not take the task lightly."
