Time to reflect on friendly performances – Neestrup
Jacob Neestrup says there is plenty to look over when he sits down with his players to watch F.C. Copenhagen's two friendly performances in Portugal following the 2-1 defeat to Brøndby on Monday.
The head coach named a fully-changed XI from the side that beat Elfsborg 5-4 over the weekend, and ensured more youngsters in the squad got minutes out in Portugal.
Roony Bardghji scored the consolation for FCK towards the end of the friendly after BIF had found the net either side of half time.
"We were good in our high press but it was a little more difficult when we dropped back. There were phases in the match where we created chances, and others where we were a bit too static," says Neestrup.
"Brøndby were sharper than us today when they got the chance, and of course we mustn't make the individual mistakes we made yesterday and today, but in general I'm not worried about where we stand right now.
"We have trained well both at home and down here (in Portugal), and we have shown a high level of play in several of our matches. I have also said after the other practice matches, regardless of whether we have won or lost, they are only friendlies.
"I remember we also played a bad training game against Plzen down in Austria this summer, but still got off to a good start to the season.
"We'll follow up on the games, look at what we did well and less well, and now we have to go home and watch the two games through, because there hasn't really been time to evaluate the Elfsborg game from yesterday.
"We still have two days on the training pitch and another game on Thursday against Molde, and then we have to see how we shuffle the deck for that game. We got Clem back in action yesterday, and hopefully Birger Meling can get some minutes on Thursday, but we'll look at that as we get closer."
