F.C. Copenhagen sign Andreas Bjelland
F.C. Copenhagen have signed Danish International Andreas Bjelland on a four-year contract. The 29-year old central defender recently played for Brentford FC in the Championship, where his contract expired after the 2017/18 season.
Manager Ståle Solbakken said: "In Andreas Bjelland, we get a strong leader, who always takes responsibility both with and without the ball. He is a foresighted and well-playing defender, his calmness and good left foot will add new dimensions to our game, when we build up from the defence. He also has the potential to become one of the leaders in the team.
"Andreas is a very experienced player, not least from his national games with Denmark, and he knows what it takes to perform at a high international level. I believe we now have a very interesting and strong squad."
Andreas Bjelland himself spoke to FCK.dk and said: "It is no secret that I originally planned to stay abroad, and I have had interesting offers from other clubs. But after talking to Ståle and Johan Lange, I was convinced that joining F.C. Copenhagen is the right next step for me.
"I am a very ambitious player, who demands a lot from both myself and my surroundings, and F.C. Copenhagen lives by the same values. This is a club who always wants to win trophies and play against the best in Europe, and I've got a very good feeling about this next step in my career. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to help FCK to where they belong."
Andreas' first training session is on Tuesday at 10.30 on the training grounds at Jens Jessens Vej 10.
