Hákon Arnar Haraldsson

Hákon Haraldsson named Player of the Year in Iceland

Hákon Haraldsson can look back on a great 2022 and is now rounding off the year by being named male Footballer of the Year by the Icelandic Football Association.

In addition to several decisive goals for the Lions at the end of last season – as well as scoring against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in November – the 19-year-old playmaker now adds this fine personal honour to his growing list of awards.

In a statement, the Icelandic Football Association said:

"It can truly be said that Hákon Arnar Haraldsson appeared on the TV screen with great energy this year.

"In his first full season in the top flight, he won the Danish Superliga with FCK and made it all the way to the UEFA Champions League group stage, where he became the fourth Icelandic player to score in the tournament.

"He also made his debut and played seven matches for the A national team."

Haraldsson joined F.C. Copenhagen's Talent Department in the summer of 2019 from ÍA Akranes. He has since played 40 games and scored six goals for the Danish champions.

Congratulations on the award, Hákon!
