FCK sell Mathew Ryan to AZ Alkmaar
F.C. Copenhagen have sold Mathew Ryan to AZ Alkmaar, with the Australian goalkeeper joining the Dutch club with immediate effect.
Ryan came to Copenhagen in August 2022 and played 11 matches for the Lions.
PC: Maty has performed extremely well
"We had an acute problem when Kamil Grabara was seriously injured and Maty was the perfect solution with his great skills and experience," says FCK sports director Peter Christiansen.
"He has performed extremely well for us and was a profile when we qualified for the Champions League group stage. This will always make him a part of our history, and we have been very happy to have him.
"After Kamil recovered earlier than expected, Maty has had limited playing time, and he has made it clear that he wants to play more regularly than he does for us.
"Therefore, we are now sending him to a strong club in the Netherlands and with a big thank you for his efforts for F.C. Copenhagen."
Ryan: I've really enjoyed my time
Reflecting on his experience in Denmark, Ryan says: “I've really enjoyed my time at FCK. Representing the team domestically and fulfilling a childhood dream of playing in the Champions League will be moments I'll cherish forever.
"I'm at a stage where it’s crucial for me to play permanently and therefore it's led me to take this next step in my career.
"I'd like to thank you all for making my time at FCK even more special, and I wish you all the best for the future.”
