Neestrup: Still more to accomplish
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says there is more to come from his side after Sunday's 3-0 win at Silkeborg saw the Lions resume the Danish Superliga campaign in style.
Goals from Christian Sørensen, Mohamed Daramy and Lukas Lerager set FCK on route to victory and pick up from where they left off back in November.
"It was a perfect result, because it's really impressive to go to Silkeborg and win like that," says Neestrup.
"I think it was a more even match than the 3-0 scoreline suggests. Silkeborg are a really good team that I have a lot of respect for and that are always difficult to play against, and they were that today as well."
Sørensen's free-kick split the teams at half time before Daramy and Lerager both found the net in three frantic second-half minutes to decide the contest.
And Neestrup was happy with what he saw at both ends of the field.
"They had some big chances at the beginning of both halves but Kamil (Grabara) was the match winner with some big saves at important times. But that is also what we expect from him, because he is a class goalkeeper," says Neestrup.
"So even if the result is perfect, there are several things in the performance itself that did not sit right for me. But it's also great to be able to win on a day when not everything works out the way we'd like.
"I think, for example, that there were several periods in the first half where we dropped too deep, when they had the ball for longer periods, and where we would have liked to push the wings a little further forward and support Hákon.
"But we'll take that home and analyse it in more detail, both the things we can improve on in our collective game and in our individual performances. But I am happy that we are robust and rode out the worst of the storm during the periods when we were under pressure.
"And as I said to the players right after the match, it is impressive to win 3-0 when we know at the same time that we can reach an even higher level and perform even better."
