Lund and Clem selected for Denmark U21s
F.C. Copenhagen youngsters Valdemar Lund and William Clem can both make their debut for Denmark's U21 national side this month after being added to the squad for two friendlies.
Lund, 19, is looking forward to joining the Denmark camp and hopes to get some minutes against Ukraine on 24 March (in Turkey) and Switzerland on 28 March in Odense.
"It means a lot to me to represent my country, and to be on the U21 team together with several of my friends for the first time is something special. I am looking forward to playing with the new team," says Lund.
"I know several of the others from former youth national teams, where many of us have come up together through the ranks. And of course it is even better that my good friend Clem has also been selected. He has done incredibly well recently and he deserves it. It will be fun for both of us, and I'm sure it will go well."
Clem youngest player in the squad
Clem, 18, is the youngest man in Denmark's U21 squad, which has been selected by new coach Steffen Højer.
"It's always great to play for Denmark, and of course it's special to play at a higher age level," says Clem.
"But it's just great to be allowed to play with some insanely talented players who are also a little older than you. I'm used to it here at the club on a daily basis, so that only makes you even more motivated.
"Initially, however, my focus is on the match against Viborg in Parken on Sunday, where we are going 100 percent for another victory, so that we maintain our momentum before the international break. It is hugely important for us."
Jelert and Daramy selected for Denmark
The news of Clem and Lund's selection for the U21s comes after Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand selected Elias Jelert and Mohamed Daramy for the first team this week,
Denmark take on Finland and Kazakhstan in EURO 2024 qualifying. Daramy has four caps for his country, while Jelert could make his debut.
