We need to respond fast – Vavro
F.C. Copenhagen's Denis Vavro says the players need to bounce back from Sunday's defeat to Brøndby as soon as possible, and put the defeat – and the memory of his penalty miss – behind them.
FCK lost 1-0 in the Copenhagen derby, with Vavro seeing a late spot-kick saved.
Next up is Thursday's Danish Cup semi-final second leg against FC Nordsjælland in Parken. And Vavro says the squad is already looking for redemption in that clash.
"Of course I'm sorry that I missed the penalty, because both the team and I would have liked to have given our fans a better result after their incredible support throughout the match," says Vavro. "I took charge and unfortunately it didn't work out this time. My teammates have supported me a lot and I have received many encouraging messages, which I appreciate.
"Now it's about all of us getting back to business quickly, because we have a very important match on Thursday. We all have a goal to play in the cup final, and at the same time the match is a good opportunity to show ourselves and everyone else that we are a strong team."
The first leg of the Cup semi-final ended 3-2 to FCN, but Vavro is more optimistic about the reverse tie.
"We delivered a good performance in the away game and were dominant for large parts of it, but gave them two goals in the final stages," says Vavro. "I have great faith that we will also dominate the game in Parken and that we will play in the cup final."
The match against FCN kicks off on Thursday at 19.30 in Parken and tickets are still available.
