Óskarsson: I'm ready to work hard this summer
F.C. Copenhagen youngster Orri Óskarsson says he can't wait to get stuck into training this summer following his return from a loan spell at SønderjyskE.
The FCK players are back at Number 10 preparing for the 2023/24 Danish Superliga season – and Óskarsson is pleased with how his year is going.
"It was great to head out and get some more experience with a first team elsewhere than I got before Christmas," says the 18-year-old.
"I went on a great run of form, where I scored in a lot of games in a row for SønderjyskE and for the Iceland U19 team. I have also always said that when I play a lot, the goals also come, and of course I was happy to show that again.
"It was a little different living in Haderslev than I have been used to in Copenhagen and Iceland, but I made good friendships there with some of the players, and I already knew Atli Barkarson from the Iceland U21 team.
"So, all in all, it was a good stay until unfortunately I got injured and missed the last three games. I headed back to FCK and have done my rehab here. It was bad timing, because SønderjyskE were still fighting for promotion to the Superliga, and unfortunately it didn't work out.
"They had great expectations and greater ambitions than the Nordic Bet League, so of course it was very disappointing, especially also because I think we had played well in the spring and could have decided it ourselves.
"But now I'm here, and it's easy to fall back into the group, because I know them really well. Now it's just a matter of working hard and showing how good I am. That's the most important thing right now, and then we have to see what the future brings."
