Elias Achouri joins FCK
F.C. Copenhagen have signed Elias Achouri on a four-year contract.
Achouri comes to the Danish capital after a successful stint at Viborg FF, where last season he established himself as one of the top players in the Danish Superliga.
Achouri made his international debut for Tunisia in 2022 and started his career at the academy of French side St. Étienne, before playing a number of years in Portuguese football.
In the summer of 2022 he moved to Viborg, where last season he played 24 games, scored six goals and provided seven assists.
"We regard Elias as one of the Superliga's most significant and interesting players," says FCK sporting director Peter Christiansen.
"He proved his level last season and developed steadily towards becoming a player who can decide matches for his team.
"We have been working for a while to get him to Copenhagen, and we are happy that we have succeeded in getting everything together with Viborg and Elias himself."
For 24-year-old Achouri, the move to Copenhagen is a significant step forward in his career.
"I've had an incredibly good time in Viborg and would like to thank everyone at the club for their help," says Achouri.
"Now I feel ready to take the next step, and here F.C. Copenhagen are a perfect opportunity for me.
"I am coming to a club that are always playing for trophies and chasing European success. I am very much looking forward to being a part of that and to joining a very strong squad."
Achouri's new coach, Jacob Neestrup, welcomes his third signing of the summer, which gives him more offensive options.
"For me he is a decidedly desirable player," says Neestrup.
"Elias is a top player who, with his one-on-one skills, can be decisive in matches. He is a goalscorer himself and also has the skills to set up his team-mates for goals.
"We know him well, and he also has a good insight into what kind of team and club he is joining, so we expect him to be able to contribute quickly."
Achouri will travel with the team to Iceland, where FCK will meet Breidablik in the second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening.
He will wear shirt number 30, but can change his number over the summer.
Everyone at F.C. Copenhagen welcomes Elias to the club and the city.
