Neestrup reacts to 3-1 loss to Silkeborg

F.C. Copenhagen lost 3-1 to Silkeborg on Saturday despite a goal from Roony Bardghji just four minutes into the Danish Superliga contest.

Silkeborg levelled in the second minute of first-half stoppage time through Pelle Mattsson, before Alexander Lind and Callum McCowatt found the net after the break.

The defeat is FCK's first of the season but the Lions remain top of the table for now, with second-place FC Nordsjælland playing on Sunday against FC Midtjylland.

"I think the first 25 minutes were good," said FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup afterwards. "It was a more closed game that we controlled and had where we wanted.

"Even though Silkeborg later worked their way into the match, they didn't have a shot until they equalised in (first-half) added time, and of course that was a bit of a stomach-churner.

"But it was only after we fell behind 2-1 that we started stressing too much, and it became a very open game.

"We also make some mistakes, both structurally and individually with their goals, but above all we cannot get stressed like that when the opponent scores. We reacted to that very well against OB, but not at all today.

"We pressed a lot in the last quarter but didn't always find the right solutions in the game, and that's why we're standing here without points for the first time in a long time.

"Today we simply weren't good enough, and it has nothing to do with the fact that we've played a lot of European games too. Now we just have to process the disappointment of this, and start looking forward to the game on Wednesday.

"A defeat is of course never the ideal result before such an important match, but we have shown before that we can respond quickly after a defeat, and we must be able to do that this time as well."
