Oscar Højlund moves up to FCK first team
Oscar Højlund has been promoted to F.C. Copenhagen's first-team squad.
Højlund has made his debut for FCK and has started in two of this season's Superliga matches so far, but has remained with the FCK Talent Department until today.
Peter Christiansen: He has already proven that he can play in the Superliga
"We are very happy that we can reward yet another of our own boys with a place in the first team squad," says FCK sporting director Peter Christiansen.
"Oscar is a great talent who has already proven that he can play in the Superliga. It is an important element of our strategy that we train skilled players ourselves who can take that step."
Jacob Neestrup: He knows the club and the culture inside out
Head coach Jacob Neestrup is also delighted that he will once again have a self-developed player to work with every day.
"Oscar knows the club and the culture here inside out. He has been trained as an FCK player for many years, and we see that every day on the training pitch and when he plays for the first team,” says Neestrup.
"He is already a skilled midfielder with a high work ethic, great intensity in his pressing game and good skills with the ball.
"At the same time, he is incredibly serious and dedicated to working on his development, so he can go far if he continues like this.”
Oscar Højlund: I love being part of the club
For Højlund, the move up to the senior squad is a logical step in his development.
"I love being part of the club and this is a goal I have worked for for many years, so I am happy and proud that I am now officially a first team player for F.C. Copenhagen,” he says.
"I will continue to work in the same way as before and learn from the talented players and coaches that I now have around me every day.”
Højlund will keep shirt number 39.
