Neestrup reacts to FCN 2-2 FCK

F.C. Copenhagen where twice pegged back as the Lions had to settle for a 2-2 draw at FC Nordsjælland on Saturday.

Orri Óskarsson and Mohamed Elyounoussi scored either side of half time, only for Jeppe Tverskov and then Martin Frese to level the scores.

The facts the points were shared in the top-of-the-table clash means FCK remain in first place in the Danish Superliag, two points ahead of FCN.

Discussing the game, FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup said: "We wanted to go out and challenge them, and we managed to do that just fine during a good first half. When we got 2-1 up I felt we would win the game.

"But I'm annoyed that we don't live up to our performance in the first half after we went ahead again, because after that we hide a bit and retreated. They dominated the rest of the game.

"The fact that they scored from two corner kicks is no more important to me than if they had scored two goals from the penalty spot or from a long shot or a throw-in. We gave them too many corners throughout the game, so in a way we are asking for it.

"All in all, I think it was a fairly even game between two good teams, where we can't complain about earning one point because they came closest to winning it in the last 20-25 minutes.

"It hurt to see (Andreas) Cornelius leave with an injury, and I understand the critical questions in relation to his injury history, but it is complex and you have to trust that we are doing what we can.

"I don't yet know what exactly happened so we'll have to get back to that in the next few days, but I'm sorry for him. He is important to us, even though we have shown over the last year that we can manage without him."
