Neestrup targets three points from Man Utd showdown

F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says his squad is out for three points on Wednesday when Manchester United rock up at Parken for the fourth UEFA Champions League group game of the season.

FCK were downed 1-0 at Old Trafford last month but Neestrup was pleased with the performance.

The Danish champions come into the clash off the back of Sunday's 4-2 win at Randers and the boss is seeking a fourth victory on the bounce.

"Three points would be perfect and we will go 100% into the game to win," says Neestrup.

“There's almost as much importance between one and zero points, than there is between one and three.

"If it's a draw towards the end then we will chase the victory, but also be careful to protect the point because it can be very important. Not in relation to reaching one of the first two spots in the group, but in the fight for third place, which also means European football after the New Year."

Memories of 2006
Neestrup made his FCK debut as an 18-year-old just five weeks before the Lions beat Manchester United in Parken during the 2006 Champions League group stage.

He was unable to feature in the encounter but still remembers the day, and is looking forward to players from that 2006 squad being at Parken on Wednesday.

"I was sitting in the stands with a broken foot," he adds.

"I remember the team, and it was one of the first FCK teams with extremely big personalities, and it was a very seasoned team. It was the match where we as a club laid the foundation for the three of us (with Rasmus Falk and Viktor Claesson) sitting here today, and I remember it like it was yesterday."

FCK vs Manchester United kicks off at 9pm on Wednesday in front of a sold-out Parken crowd.
