Goalless in the derby

F.C. Copenhagen battled out a 0-0 draw with Brøndby in Sunday's derby to head into the international break with a three-point advantage at the top of the Danish Superliga.

"Of course we would have liked to have won," says FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup. "We went for the three points but we can also live with just one.

"These were two good teams that were well-adjusted to each other, and if we'd scored one of the few but big chances we created then we'd have also earned a narrow victory. I would have liked to have seen that, of course, but we also had to work more for the chances we got than we usually do.

"Defensively, it's close to perfect, because we basically didn't give anything away, and we also finished the better team, without it being absolutely fantastic. So if the game should have had a winner, I think after it all it should have been us.

"But it's fair to question whether we should have been braver in the last 20 minutes and put more into what I would call a balanced attack. We were chasing the win but not at all costs, because on a day like this it is also important to get at least one point.

"We are still top with a lead of three points, and it may well be that with our squad we should have had a few more points in the Superliga. But if you look at the most recent period since the last international break, then it's five wins, this draw and a defeat only at Old Trafford, where everyone knows how close we were to points."

Lukas Lerager had to exit the game in the second half with a nose injury, but it is still too early to say whether it is broken.
