Neestrup reacts to Viborg defeat

F.C Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says his side created enough chances to beat Viborg at the weekend and admits he was left frustrated by the defeat.

FCK led through Mohamed Elyounoussi's first-half strike but conceded twice after the break, with Alassana Jatta's winner coming in stoppage time.

"Our first half cannot be improved much, except that we weren't cynical enough in their half," says Neestrup.

"We started the second half with a huge chance, so we should have already settled the game before they equalised. We could have done several things differently in the build-up to the goal, which they got after a poor clearance by (Kevin) Diks, but that's what can happen. Everyone makes technical mistakes once in a while.

"After their equaliser, a slightly messy period of 15-20 minutes followed but we fought back to play the game mostly on our terms again. We again created enough opportunities to win it.

"I don't think one could object if we had won 2-1 but we don't manage to finish things off. But then at least we had to play for a draw and not throw it all away at the end – and that's probably what annoys me most.

"It cannot happen that they get a change like that at that time, and partly (Denis) Vavro should have put more pressure on Isak Jensen before he sent Jatta through, and then Diks should have just taken a red card at that stage of the match.

"Of course not by kicking him, but just his shirt. That's what most people would do in that situation."

The result means FCK's lead at the top of the Danish Superliga is reduced to two points, with Bayern Munich next up in the Champions League on Wednesday.
