Vote passes on F.C. Copenhagen women's team agreement
F.C. Copenhagen's plans to create a women's team have taken the next step to becoming reality after FC Damsø voted in favour of a collaboration.
An overwhelming majority of the FC Damsø board agreed that the club can go ahead with F.C. Copenhagen to create a women's team in a formal superstructure agreement between FC Damsø, KB, B1903 and F.C. Copenhagen.
"We are really happy tonight," says FCK director says Jacob Lauesen. "This is not a small part of our strategy but something that has a lot of our focus in the club management and in the board. It's great that we can now also tick off that part of the We Are Copenhagen strategy."

Jacob and project manager Rebecca Steele sat in an adjacent room to the general meeting on Wednesday in order to be summoned to answer questions. But that was not necessary.
"This isn't meaningful for just us and FC Damsø, but for all Copenhageners and women's football in Denmark," adds Jacob. "In recent years we have seen a great development in the number of women in the stands, but everyone, regardless of gender, must be able to dream of playing in a white shirt with the lion on the badge, because otherwise we will not embrace Copenhagen."
FC Damsø's chairman Anker Thisted is also pleased that the general meeting gave support to the board, and that it happened after a thorough and factual dialogue.
"The board had prepared a presentation of the advantages we saw in the collaboration, and after that we had a really good discussion, where both some of the strong proponents and some of those who were critical spoke," says Anker. "We responded to the best of our ability and fortunately received the support of most members tonight.
"Some of the concerns that some of the critics voiced are also some of the things that we have to think about in the agreement that we have to make now, also with KB and B1903, so that we can ensure that we accommodate all viewpoints."
