Neestrup reacts to 5-4 win over Elfsborg

F.C. Copenhagen beat Elfsborg 5-4 on Sunday in a whirlwind friendly that finally tilted in the Lions' favour when Mohamed Elyounoussi secured his hat-trick in stoppage time.

Diogo Gonçalves opened the scoring for FCK just three minutes in, before Elyounoussi bagged a double either side of Michael Baidoo's response for Elfsborg to make it 3-1 at the break.

Viktor Claesson added a fourth for the Danish champions, only for the Swedes to draw level via a Kevin Diks own goal, Baidoo's second of the game and a late Jalal Abdullai effort.

Elyounoussi popped up with the winner three minutes into stoppage time, however, to secure the friendly win.

"We were really good in the first hour and reached a very high peak performance, with quick link-up play and some fine moves," says FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup.

"We created many more chances than the ones we converted (but) we should have scored a few more and we should have conceded fewer.

"I'm sure we will also replicate our top level in many games when it gets serious again. But that will not be what determines whether we win the league. To do that we need to avoid the below-par aspects of the game that we had on show today, because of course we cannot concede four goals in a match like this.

"We were really good in the first hour, and that's why it's tough that it has ended the way it has. But even though it's a shame to concede four goals, we still have to remember that it is a friendly match. We weren't quite up to speed either, because we beat AGF 5-1 last week, but of course there are things we can fix after this match.

"The intensity was there today but I think Elfsborg should have had a couple of red cards. I don't blame the Elfsborg players for anything, because it is the referee who is employed to control the game."
