Neestrup: We have competition for places

Jacob Neestrup says there is a growing battle for places in the F.C. Copenhagen first team as the Lions head into the international break on the back of a 2-0 win at OB.

Goals from Magnus Mattsson and Andreas Cornelius either side of half time secured victory for FCK, who finish the regular season in third place.

The season now spits into two after the international break, with FCK competing with the five other top-six teams for the title.

"We created many chances today, and if we had been a little more efficient, we would have closed the game out earlier," says head coach Neestrup.

"But I am of course very satisfied that we won again and kept a clean sheet for the fourth time out of five this spring.1

"However, although we dominated with the number of chances, we didn't always dominate the game as much as we would have liked. We became a bit too passive at times, but in turn punished them when we were deep. It was good to see us use our very direct play, which led to the two goals and many more chances.

"It was great to see Corner come on and score, and make a really big impact. I'm always happy when my players are successful, but of course we celebrated a little extra with everything Corner has been through since he came back a year and a half ago.

"Orri (Oskarsson) is also doing well, and (Viktor) Claesson did well in the No.9 position before he got injured. There is a battle for places, so it's just a matter of performing well in training and when you get the chance in the match.

"It was also good to see (Lukas) Lerager back again, so he got his first few minutes of the spring.

"Now, as always, we will use the international break to look back on the recent period and the things we have done well and less well. We have known four of our opponents in the Championship Round for a while, but my focus has only been on the game today. There are others who have started to prepare us for those upcoming games."
