Neestrup reacts to loss at FCN
Jacob Neestrup says his F.C. Copenhagen players will need to deliver a full response to Sunday's 2-1 defeat at FC Nordsjælland when they come up against FC Midtjylland this weekend.
Goals from Ibrahim Osman and Marcus Ingvartsen put FCN two up midway through the first half before the Lions responded after the break through Orri Óskarsson. Roony Bardghji hit the post from a penalty, while Jordan Larsson came close just three minutes in.
Defeat leaves the Lions six points off top spot and Neestrup concedes luck wasn't on his side.
"It was again an even and close game, where we got off to a really good start and had the opportunities we needed to put us ahead. Not just one goal but on a good day two goals," he says.
"After the first 15-20 minutes there was a period where we began defending corners poorly, and we had a troubled period after that where we tried to compose ourselves again.
"After we scored the game flowed back and forth. He had the chances again but the game was very even. They sat back a bit more and were good at their long transitions, and almost made it 3-1. But we lacked the final touch in the box when we gambled and went forward. So, all in all, the match lacked clinical finishing at both ends.
"Now we have to get home to the training ground next week and work towards the next game in Herning, and do everything we can to win. The only thing that matters is to catch up with the teams in front of us and keep the others behind us."
