Neestrup reacts to Banik win: Deserved and important victory
"It wasn't all perfect, but I think it’s acceptable, and we got a good starting point before the return match,” said Jacob Neestrup after the 1-0 victory over Banik Ostrava, which was only decided in injury time.
"Yes, I almost didn't dare to celebrate because I couldn’t see from my position if it was offside, but I think it’s fully deserved that we win after a concentrated and disciplined effort.”
"They came exactly as we had expected and prepared for, but you just can’t keep such a team from counterattacks, as they have shown in many games in the Czech Republic. But if we had scored on one of the chances we had earlier in the game, then I also believe we would have won by more.”
“But it’s just like that in these European games where you start at home, there are different considerations in the last half hour than in a regular Superliga game. I would almost say that it’s more important not to lose 0-1 than it is to win 1-0, but of course the victory makes a big difference.”
“We still need to go down and finish the job at a small, intimate stadium where they have all their fans behind them, so we also need to find the European discipline that the club has shown so many times over the years, and which I also think we saw today,” concluded Neestrup, who once again was pleased that players came off the bench and made a big difference, not least when Jordan Larsson and Lukas Lerager set up Victor Froholdt for the decisive goal in injury time.
