Diogo Gonçalves sold to Real Salt Lake

F.C. Copenhagen today say goodbye to Diogo Gonçalves, who will continue his career in the USA after agreeing to join Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake.
 
Diogo: Thank you for everything, Copenhagen
The 27-year-old midfielder has played 57 games and scored 20 goals for the Lions.
 
"I have fulfilled many of the dreams I had when I joined F.C. Copenhagen," he says.
 
"I have won trophies, played in the Champions League, and there are many great moments that I am very proud of and will always carry with me.
 
"Now the time has come for me to move on, and I look forward to new adventures in the USA, but I will miss my teammates and friends here. Thank you for everything, Copenhagen.”
 
Neestrup: We won't forget the goal in the cup final
Head coach Jacob Neestrup reflects on the Portuguese’s departure, saying: "We will never forget his decisive goal in the cup final, nor his many flawless penalties for F.C. Copenhagen.
 
"Diogo is a skilled player who particularly showed his qualities in our European matches, and we wish him all the best moving forward."
 
Sune: Good conversations with Diogo
FCK Sporting Director Sune Smith-Nielsen adds:

"We had some good conversations with Diogo, who was looking for new challenges if the right opportunity came about. This is a good deal for F.C. Copenhagen.
 
"There is no doubt that Diogo has been a dominant player for us. He helped win the championship, decided a cup final, and delivered strong performances in Europe. We have been happy with his contributions to the team, which also include many goals and assists."
