'Three great goals' as FCK beat AGF

F.C. Copenhagen delivered an assured performance to bounce back from successive defeats and return to the top of the Danish Superliga with a 3-1 win over AGF on Monday.

Viktor Claesson opened the scoring before Jordan Larsson and Amin Chiakha put the game beyond the visitors in the second half.

The win moves FCK a point ahead of FC Midtjylland at the top of the table, with FCM set to play their game in hand against FC Nordsjælland on Tuesday.

Discussing the game, FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup said: "We got off to a good start today, just like we have in our recent home games at Parken, and we put a lot of pressure on AGF.

"We were good at pushing them deep, where Jordan could get behind them, and we also varied our game by finding Claesson in the gaps.

"We didn't create too many chances today but on the other hand we were effective with our finishing, and our forwards scored three great goals. The Claesson-Jordan combination worked well, and Amin also came on and scored.

"AGF got more of the ball in the second half but we kept them down to one-and-a-half chances throughout the game, a header in the first half that (Nathan) Trott saved, and then their goal at the end, which was a bit of a shame, because I think Trott deserved a clean sheet after having a good game today.

"So I think we deserved to win after putting ourselves under a lot of pressure with the two defeats during the week, which hurt us, but I think that in both second halves we looked like the team that was closest to three points. But it's our own fault that we still ended up with zero.

"Now the players have Tuesday and Wednesday off from training, and then it's about getting injured players back and finding the strength for the coming weeks, where we again have two games each week with the two cup semi-finals against Viborg."

Next up for FCK is the first leg of the Danish Cup semi-final at Viborg on Thursday, before a return to Superliga action with Sunday's trip to Brøndby.
