4-2 defeat at FCM
F.C. Copenhagen suffered defeat at FC Midtjylland on Thursday as two late goals gave the hosts all three points in the table-topping clash.
Second-half goals from Mohamed Elyounoussi and Victor Froholdt levelled the scores at the MCH Arena after FCM opened a 2-0 lead before the break.
But the Lions couldn't push on for all three points and, in the end, conceded to Ousmane Diao's effort four minutes from time, before Adam Buksa converted a stoppage-time penalty.
“We have to perform much better than we did in the first half, when we were very defensively locked in and gave away two goals,” said head coach Jacob Neestrup after the defeat.
“We had the ball a lot, but without getting anywhere. We still have to be able to play to nil, especially when we had the ball as much as we did. I don’t think it’s because we started with a three-man defence, because the defensive mistakes could also have happened in other formations.
“After the break, we tried to open up with more skilled offensive players on the field, and we succeeded in that, but it would have been better if the starting point had been a draw or if we had been ahead.
“But we came back to 2-2 and dominated strongly in the second half, and it’s unsatisfactory that we conceded a goal from a corner. The fourth goal could happen, because that’s when we're putting everything into going forward.
"It is of course a shame that for the second game in a row we come away with no points, because both games were definitely important. But I still believe that we can win the championship. It will be difficult, but we will do everything we can in the last six games."
Next up for FCK is a home clash with AGF in Parken on Monday 21 April (6pm).
