F.C. Copenhagen granted permission to use facial recognition technology
The Danish Data Protection Authority has approved F.C. Copenhagen's application for the use of automated facial recognition.
The permission applies to the team's home and away matches, and the club expects the system to be put into use during the spring.
F.C. Copenhagen has invested in the necessary technology for the use of facial recognition in 2023 and 2024. This was due to a desire to add another method of maintaining peace and order in the stadium.
The introduction of facial recognition improves the possibilities of assigning and enforcing suspensions at both home and away matches.
Gradual rollout
Facial recognition is a comprehensive initiative, and therefore F.C. Copenhagen will use the spring half of the season to fully integrate the system.
The gradual rollout in Parken will start at the first game of the spring, and the system is expected to be fully phased in by the start of the 2025/2026 season.
