F.C. Copenhagen Women sign Maria Hovmark
Maria Hovmark has completed her transfer to F.C. Copenhagen Women and is already training with the first team in Vanløse.
The 25-year-old arrives at the Danish capital from Portuguese side Damaiense, having spent the last few years of her career abroad.
Steele: Great reinforcement
Head of Women’s Football, Rebecca Steele, says the striker's arrival is an ideal signing for the club.
“We are very happy that Maria will be part of our next steps at F.C. Copenhagen. She brings several years of experience from abroad, so she is a great addition that we are getting," says Rebecca.
“We are constantly trying to chase the extra percentages that can make us better, and we believe that Maria’s skills and experience can help in the exciting times we are facing.”
Hovmark: Proud to represent FCK
Discussing her arrival, Hovmark says: "I have chosen F.C. Copenhagen, first and foremost because I think it's an exciting and ambitious project.
"I am impressed by what they have already created in such a short time. It is fantastic that more Danish clubs are starting to invest in women's football - and I would like to help support that.
"Personally, I have a need to return home to Denmark again. I am happy, grateful and proud to represent F.C. Copenhagen, and I am looking forward to playing in front of the fan culture they have created."
Hovmark joins F.C. Copenhagen after playing much of her career abroad. She started at Djurgården, after which she briefly moved back home to Sundby. Since then, her career has included stints at Avaldsnes IL in Norway, Lazio in Italy and Damaiense in Portugal.
Together with the rest of the squad, Hovmark is looking forward to an exciting spring, where the team will be competing for promotion. Preparations are already well underway, and include training matches against B93, FC Rosengård and FC Midtjylland, before the first match back on 8 March against Aalborg Freja in the cup quarter-finals.
