FCK to play Sønderjyske after Danish Cup win over HB Køge

F.C. Copenhagen left it late to beat HB Køge on Thursday night but got the job done to progress to the Danish Cup fourth round and set up a tie with Sønderjyske.

Lukas Lerager scored on 81 minutes to break the deadlock, before Pantelis Hatzidiakos came off the bench to make it 2-0 three minutes into stoppage time.

"It wasn't quite perfect, but it was a solid and professional piece of work," said head coach Jacob Neestru.

"It's obvious that we would have liked to have scored earlier, because then it could have been over quicker, as we saw the same thing happen to other teams (in this round) yesterday.

"We had chances but we have to finish better and be better at hitting the target, because there were too many that went wide of the mark.

"But I'm very pleased that we were again very solid and never lost control of the game. We didn't give away any chances, just like on Sunday, and we again had the patience needed to break down the opposition.

“We chose to rotate a little more today, but I think we kept the continuity in the game that we would like to have. It's important that players who have trained really well on a daily basis get the opportunity to prove themselves, because we have a wide squad with many to choose from.

"Not too many, but many, and those who started today did well and did some of the hard work, which paved the way for those who came on from the bench, who also did well."

The win over HB Køge means FCK will now face Sønderjyske away in the fourth round.

That match is scheduled for between 29 and 31 October. More info will follow when the date and kick off time is confirmed.
