Neestrup: We didn't hit our usual level
F.C. Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup says the players didn't compete at their usual best in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Sønderjyske in Parken.
Viktor Claesson scored an early goal for the hosts but Lukas Björklund levelled before half time.
And while FCK sought a winner for much of the second half, they couldn't find a breakthrough.
"We had a really good start to the game with Claesson's early goal, but we didn't take advantage of that today," said Neestrup afterwards.
"We didn't reach the level we needed to and didn't create enough chances. Instead we invited them back into the game by not defending properly when we needed to, and that's what gave them an all-too-easy goal.
"In the second half we pressed more and more, but it's not about pressing the opponent hard outside the box, but inside the box. We weren't good enough at that today and we weren't good enough at that in Aalborg a week ago either.
"Still, we ended up creating a couple of chances that could have given us a 2-1 win, but that didn't change the fact that the performance wasn't good enough.
"We've played other games here where we've created lots of chances without being able to take advantage of them, but that wasn't the problem today. Today we drew because the performance just wasn't there."
Next up for FCK is a trip to London on Thursday to face Chelsea in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League last-16.
