Neestrup reflects on 2-1 win at Randers
F.C. Copenhagen secured a 2-1 victory at Randers in the Lions' first Danish SUplerliga game back from the winter break, with both goals coming in the first half.
Jordan Larsson scored five minutes after Oliver Olsen's own goal to put FCK two up at the break. Simen Nordli pulled one back for the hosts early in the second half but Jacob Neestrup's side held firm to take all three points back to the capital.
"It was important for us to win a game like this," said Neestrup afterwards.
"It was a difficult game to start with after the winter break, against a Randers team that had good momentum in the autumn. After our closest rivals all won yesterday, it was nice and important that we got that win.
"I'm satisfied with our first 30 minutes but I think Randers finished the first half the better. It's clear that when you concede a goal 30 seconds after the break, you can't help but think about the Heidenheim game on Thursday, where we played an excellent first half and ended up losing. And even though it was also a training match, you can also take the AGF match, where we led 3-0 at half time and lost.
“But apart from the first 10 minutes after their goal, I think we reacted well and managed to calm the match without giving them too many chances."
Next up for FCK is a trip to Germany on Thursday, where the Lions will seek to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first leg of their UEFA Conference League playoff with Heidenheim.
”Now we go to Heidenheim, and then it’s Midtjylland on Sunday, where we want to do better than today, added Neestrup.
"And also get another win in front of a hopefully full Parken."
