Oliver Højer extends contract until 2029
Oliver Højer today celebrates his 18th birthday by signing a new contract at F.C. Copenhagen that runs until the summer of 2029.
The youngster had already been promoted to the first-team squad last summer and has so far played six games for F.C. Copenhagen.
Sune: Oliver is an FCK kid with great potential
FCK sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen is delighted to have secured Homer's long-term future.
"Oliver is a talent of international caliber. We have put together a good plan with Oliver, and we have great faith that he will become a big presence in our first team," says Sune.
"We are very happy that Oliver has chosen to sign a long-term contract with us. It's always a special feeling when one of our own breaks through.
"Oliver didn't just grow up at FCK, he put on his first football boots at KB Micro and has now moved all the way up to the first team. It's fantastic."
Højer: Hard work is required
Højer himself says the new contract is just one more step on his journey.
"The past six months have been completely surreal for me in many ways, and I'm so proud that my dream has come true," he says.
"It's required a lot of patience and hard work, but I've also received support and encouragement all the way. It means a lot to be here today.
"I'm super happy to sign a long-term contract. It gives me peace of mind, and I can now fully focus on my further development and the next steps. I need to become more stable in my performances and continue to get used to the fact that everything is just a bit faster at the highest level.
"It's no secret that I've grown up at F.C. Copenhagen. The whole family has a history at the club, and that's why it feels like being home. I feel like I belong here. I'm hungry for more and I have to work hard."
Neestrup: Oliver has a good eye for the game
FCK head coach Jacob Neestrup is pleased that Højer's agreement is in place for a long time into the future.
"It's good that together with Oliver we can now look far into the future, and I have no doubt that we will see a lot more of him. He is a skilled, dynamic midfielder with a good eye for the game and some good finishing skills," says the boss.
"Now, in collaboration with staff and teammates, he will take the next steps into the senior world and build on the potential and quality we have seen from him throughout all the years he has been at FCK Talent. We are looking forward to it!"
