Madsen praises 'coolness and patience' in FCM win

F.C. Copenhagen assistant coach Stefan Madsen praised the Lions' "coolness" after their 1-0 win over FC Midtjylland in Sunday's table-topping clash in Parken.

Magnus Mattsson's penalty on 54 minutes was enough to earn FCK all three points and move clear at the top of the Danish Superliga.

"I think we delivered a top performance," said Madsen, who ran the touchline while head coach Jacob Neestrup served a one-match suspension.

"We managed to be balanced for almost the entire match, and we defended well on their set pieces, which we have had some challenges with recently.

"Our coolness and our patience on the ball for long periods contributed to us having large spells where we were in really good control.

"We had a lot of opportunities to play forces chances or just launch the ball into the box. I was sure that Robert would score after 20 minutes when it hit the post, but when the big chances don't go in, it's good to know that Magnus can be a safe bet from the spot.

"With a little more sharpness, we would have scored at least one more. I think we're in a good place, both in defending set pieces, which we have had to focus on, and in many other parts of the game.

"So all in all, I think we are in a good position. They gave us some problems in some phases of the game but these are two teams that played a really great match and both teams came to win. We won today but it's only one game.

"I think we looked strong but we also have to keep our feet on the ground, even though we have had a really great week. There are many big matches and important challenges still ahead, and we need to be ready for them."
