CEO Anders Hørsholt: We've been here before
On Wednesday one of the most exciting and important matches of the season awaits F.C. Copenhagen. The return match against FK Vardar in this Champions League third-round qualifier is in many ways our European final and an evening that means a lot for all FCK fans.
The match will not be any less exciting or challenging because it comes at a time when we as a club and team stand in the middle of a period that has proved to be at least as difficult and tumultuous as we had anticipated when last season ended.
From the ideal season last season, Thomas Delaney, Andreas Cornelius, Mathias Zanka and Ludwig Augustinsson have left the club, while Peter Ankersen and Rasmus Falk have been out with long-term injuries. This kind of change can be felt at FCK. We have been completely aware of this because we have experienced the situation before.
When you are successful, as we have been the last two years, there are times when things are not so easy. We have experienced that before and have still managed to showcase ourselves on the largest European stage. We are again in such a period now, we are all aware of that. We also know what it takes to keep us on track: hard work, patience, loyalty and humility about the task ahead. At F.C. Copenhagen we are neither scared of challenges or hard work.
We are always aiming high at FCK - even in those years where we know it will be harder to reach our goals. This season is no exception, and Wednesday we can take a big step in the right direction.
Personally, I'm really looking forward to Wednesday evening, the European evenings are something very special. It may not be a beautiful football match, but it will be unbelievably exciting. I believe and hope that we win the match, but I can not guarantee anything. What I can guarantee is that everyone in the club is doing everything we can to make it happen.
Yours sincerely
Anders Hørsholt
