FC Copenhagen vs Atletico: Ståle and Fischer talk up tie
FC Copenhagen face Atletico Madrid in the Europa League tonight and FCK manager Ståle Solbakken thinks the Lions can get something from this last-32 game.
“Atletico are strong, yes. But we are looking forward to the match and we are not afraid of them,” Ståle said.
“We have always lifted ourselves for this type of game at home.
"At home, we need to change as little as possible about ourselves, but it would be naive not to take any tactical considerations into account.
“We will try to play our own game as much as possible and we must hit our best to be in with a chance.
"Our goal for the home game is to keep the tie open for the away leg in Madrid.”
Hard working Spaniards
Ståle also had time to deliver a brief analysis of FC Copenhagen’s opposition for Thursday’s 21.05 kick off in Telia Parken.
"Atletico are a well-organised and hard-working team,” he said.
“All 11 players work hard - no one is free from the defensive work.”
Viktor Fischer raring to go
FC Copenhagen striker Viktor Fischer also spoke ahead of the game.
"These are the matches you work to be good enough to play in,” he told FCK.dk.
“And these are the games we want at FCK. We work to have a team that deserves to be here.
“I love matches like this and look forward to experiencing a full Telia Parken.
“We will try to show that we can do something against the big clubs. I'm just looking forward to the game. It will be a fierce match!”
